“For it is in giving that we receive.”
-Francis of Assisi
With the holiday season just around the corner, I thought it would be a good time to mention what this time truly is about. We are such a consumer friendly society that I feel especially during this time, we become so focused on buying material things for ourselves or our loved ones. Now I am in no way against holiday spending, but I think it is important to think about those people who really need help. Instead of buying all those materialistic things for ourselves, maybe think of giving to a charity, or some other type of good cause. When you are walking through the streets and you see a homeless person, or maybe even someone who is doing something in order to earn some extra money, throw out some spare change. You might really make that person´s day or even inpsire them to improve upon their situation. What I am saying is there are people out there with a lot less than what many of us have. Maybe during this holiday season we can think of these other people. There is a huge world out there, and not everyone is blessed enough to even have food or a roof over their head. This is what this time means to me, and I am almost positive it is what Jesus would want too. After all, our Lord and Savior is the most non-materialistic person to ever roam this Earth and we are supposedly celebrating his birthday, right? Just something to think about this holiday season. I wish you all a wonderful rest of the week and a great weekend as well.
